Late Summer Mentor-Mentee Activities

Here's a small selection of things to do in the coming weeks. You can always pop by local farmer's markets or hiking trails for easy outings on the cheap!

Tri-City ValleyCats Baseball Game   

Enjoy an evening outside with your Scholar at the Capital Region’s state-of-the-art ballpark. Each night is a unique event, with entertainment acts, heritage nights and fireworks shows providing the perfect environment to enjoy a summer night. The stadium is located on Hudson Valley Community College’s campus, and we encourage you to walk the campus with your Scholar while you’re there!

Where: Joe Bruno Stadium, 80 Vandenburgh Ave. Troy, NY 12181

When: Multiple dates; game times are 6:30 or 7:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday

Cost: tickets start at $6 for grandstand seats


The Freedom Park Summer Concert Series offers free concerts highlighting performers from all over the Capital Region and beyond. Performances range from cover bands to dance companies to jazz orchestras. You and your Scholar can bring lawn chairs or a blanket to use in the outdoor amphitheater, right beside the Mohawk River.

Where: Freedom Park, 5 Schonowee Avenue Scotia, NY 12302

When: Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in August @ 7pm

Cost: Free  


2017 marks the centennial of woman’s suffrage in New York State. It may be difficult for your Scholar to imagine a society where women don’t have the right to vote. The years leading up to 1917 were fraught with difficulty both politically and personally for women on both sides of the argument. Discover New York's capital's "anti" movement through the eyes of a New York governor's wife and other members of the Albany Anti-Suffrage Association in this spotlight exhibition.

When: Exhibit opens on September 2nd, hours vary by day

Cost: Adults $10/Students $8; free admission on Thursdays from 5-8pm


Get active with your Scholar during an all-ages ride from the Albany Public Library Delaware Branch to the Pine Hills Branch in celebration of the launch of the Cycle! bike share program! No bike? CDPHP Cycle! will have a pop-up bike stations at the Delaware branch and Pine Hills Branch on the day of the event. Join in all-ages ride from the Delaware Branch to the Pine Hills Branch in celebration of the launch of the CDPHP Cycle! bike share program!

When: Saturday, September 16th, 10am-2pm
