What: Capital Holiday Lights in the Park
Take your Scholar to this beautiful display and grab some hot cocoa to stay warm! The Holiday Lights in the Park feature more than 125 festive displays.
Where: Albany's Washington Park
When: Now through January 2nd, Sundays-Thursdays 6-9pm; Fridays and Saturdays 6-10pm
Cost: $20/car; all proceeds benefit juvenile crime prevention programs through the Police Athletic League

What: Empire “Skate” Plaza
Stay warm outside by ice-skating in the Plaza with your Scholar! Even if you’re an amateur, ice-skating is a great way to get outside in the cold and build lasting memories.
Where: Empire State Plaza, Albany
When: Now through March 12th 11am-8pm (weather permitting)
Cost: Free admission; $4 skate rental for adults
What: The Corning Tower Observation Deck
Take your Scholar to the center of New York’s state government! Stroll through the plaza, look at the art, and explore the tallest building in New York State outside of New York City. Breathtaking views of Albany, the Plaza, the Adirondacks, the Catskills, and more can be enjoyed.

What: Troy Farmer’s Market
Enjoy a visit with your mentee to this vibrant market, listen to live music, and taste samples from local farmers and businesses.
Where: The Troy Atrium, 49 4th St., Troy (until April)

What: Empire State Aerosciences Museum
If your Scholar is interested in aviation and science, take them to the site of the former General Electric Flight Test Center. The museum has a spectacular collection of restored aircrafts, in addition to interactive exhibits.
