We are deeply grateful to our many community partners who encouraged their staff to join us as volunteer mentors this year. Our mentors come to us from all parts of the community, and they all have one thing in common: they all want to pay it forward to a promising young person in the community.
Many of our mentors identify someone in their own past who helped them identify and achieve their goals and now they are choosing to make a commitment to help a young person who is just starting out in high school.
The National Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR) helps to put the benefits of mentoring in perspective on a national scale. Students with mentors are:
- 55% more likely to enroll in college
- 78% more likely to volunteer
- 90% express interest in becoming mentors themselves
- 130% more likely to hold a leadership position in the future
