What a year it's been! We celebrated our 20th anniversary by kicking off our 20 for 20 series with stories from Scholars, alumni, mentors and donors in March. We honored Geraldine Golub, Board Chair, at a fantastic Anniversary Gala and Scholar Celebration in June, which was a stunning success.
We had a busy summer with Scholars and mentors attending events and visiting colleges together.
Then, we closed out the fall with new Scholar inductions, college visits and more mentor events.
Along the way, we developed some new partnerships, hosted fun gatherings and shared our stories of our Scholars' success across the region.
In addition to the many activities we organize for Scholars, families, mentors and alumni, we also make sure to highlight key issues in our region and in our country that relate to our Scholars. It's important to us that we prepare our Scholars for college success, and it is equally important that the colleges have the resources and policies in place that will help our Scholars and all students thrive.
This year, our executive director, Robin Christenson, wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Times Union; we joined with other organizations to stand up for students in a letter supporting funding for financial aid; she recorded a commentary about the importance of affirmative action, and, Robin spoke with WAMC's Joe Donahue about our program as part of an interview series called Falling into Place.
We've rounded up some of our most popular posts below.
Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
