2019 Summer Activities for Scholars and Mentors

Summer is here! There are so many wonderful free events and activities to enjoy in the Capital Region!

Here are a few that you and your Scholar might enjoy to stay connected during their school vacation.

Showtimes for Damn Yankees begin at 8pm, How to Succeed in Business starts at 7:30pm.

Shows run Tuesday-Saturday through August 18th. Check their website for details.

The season this year includes In the Heights , Newsies and Beauty and the Beast.

Shows run Tuesday through Saturday.
Amphitheater seats are free--and can be reserved (with a blanket) in advance.

As in years past, we will organize a Sponsor-A-Scholar night to visit the Playhouse as a group. Mentors will receive email announcements about the specific date and show. 


Bites Camera Action--weekly free movies in Albany in front of the Times Union Center. Mondays starting at 6:30, with showtimes at 7:30pm.

FYI: South Pearl Street will close to vehicular traffic from Beaver Street to Hudson Avenue at 6:30 PM on Mondays from July 9 to August 27. Short films from local media group Youth FX will play at 7:00 PM each week, with the feature presentations kicking off at 7:30 PM.


Music Haven Concert Series

Explore a world of music right in Schenectady's Central Park. Enjoy a variety of performances from acclaimed musicians spanning the globe at the recently renovated Music Haven stage.

Fitness in the Park
Free Sunday morning yoga in Troy's Riverfront Park beginning at 9am.

Join in a free outdoor yoga class, then grab breakfast at one of Troy's great restaurants or cafes.
